Deer Valley Trails — MTB Trail Update 2015

This summer, Deer Valley upped the anti with a significant expansion to their MTB trail system — including a sweet flow trail from the top, designed by Gravity Logic, and the expansion of the Park City classic, Mid-Mountain Trail, developed in conjunction with Mountain Trails. I recently had the opportunity to sample the new Deer Valley trails and I was very impressed.

Tidal Wave is a new flow trail that you can pick up from the top of Bald Mountain’s Sterling Express chair. It was not complete when I rode it, but I loved the progressive rollers and jumps, which are designed to go big or go small. Your choice. Hit once side of the lip, and it’s a roller, Hit the other side and get plenty of air. The trail is an all level trail.

I rode the new extension to Mid-Mountain, literally, the day after it opened. So there was the expected small roots, rocks and generally uneven surface to contend with. By summer 2016, this trail will be well-burned in. If you want to do the classic Deer Valley to Canyons route, pick up the trail off Deer Crest, above St. Regis Deer Valley. The extension adds about half an hour the the route, so plan accordingly.

Bottom line, Deer Valley trails offer a bit of something for every rider, and I strongly encourage you to ride Deer Valley at least once this summer.
