Resort announces plans for a new beginner flow trail, Holy Rider, to be built this summer.

That’s right. One of the best lift-served MTB trail networks in North America is set to open June 17, and it just keeps getting better.

Last summer, Deer Valley Resort made significant upgrades to its lift-served trail network. In addition to bringing Gravity Logic in to build the intermediate flow trail Tidal Wave, Mid-Mountain Trail was extended from Silver Lake to the east side of Bald Eagle Mountain—connecting with Deer Crest trail above the St. Regis Deer Valley—and is now more accessible from Snow Park base area. This has made the IMBA Epic trail more epic. Although I have to say: riding Mid Mountain from Silver Lake to Canyons Village base area was already challenging enough. This 3-1/2 hour ride (for me anyway) is now closer to 4 hours! So bring extra fuel.

one unique design aspect Tidal Wave is the shape of the jumps, which allow all levels of riders to hit the features with confidence.

This summer, Deer Valley is building a new beginner flow trail called Holy Roller. We’ll bring you updates on this and other trail changes, later, once we get a chance to see it. I do have to say, however, one unique design aspect Tidal Wave is the shape of the jumps, which allow all levels of riders to hit the features with confidence. So it will be interesting to see how Holy Roller shapes up.

If you are new to Park City and want to plan an epic Mid-Mountain ride (highly recommended), consider parking at the PCMR Canyons Village lower parking lot and jump on the free city bus to Snow Park, via the transit center off Main Street (see schedule and routes). Grab a beer at the Village, or break out the camping chairs and cooler in the parking lot.

Deer Valley Resort daily summer operations begin June 17 and run through September 5, 2016; then weekends only through September 18. Summer chairlifts operate from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily (conditions permitting), and there is plenty of free parking is available at Snow Park Lodge.

To help you plan your tide, check out Deer Valley’s summer trail map. At publication, the trail map was still the 2015 map…no doubt this will be updated soon. Fore more Park City area trail information, check out the Mountain Trails online map. Lastly, it’s highly likely that you can end your day of riding and dovetail into one of the many free concerts Park City hosts throughout the summer. Check out our A&E section and plan accordingly.

Stay upright!
