Pipeline Trail Offers a Great Early Season Option for Salt Lake Riders

For anyone looking for an early season high-altitude, consider Pipleline Trail in Millcreek Canyon. Park City has Round Valley and the south facing of Glenwild. In the Greater Salt Lake, a lot of riders look to Bonneville Shoreline trail and Corner Canyon for early season rides. But these two are pretty low elevation, while Pipeline Trail is much higher. As such, the snow does not typically melt as soon early, but Pipeline south-facing exposure does dry fairly quickly. While it’s a bit cold,  you get that great alpine experience. while there is still a small amount of snow on the Millcreek Canyon Road, Pipeline trail is in excellent condition.

There are a few small slides but nothing that can’t be navigated. Don’t leave too late like I did yesterday. I ended up dropping Rattlesnake Gulch in very low light of the early evening…makes me think about breaking out my night-riding lights.
